Yet Another Endorsement

The following letter appeared in the May 17, 2014 Cape Cod Times entitled, "Rebecca Putnam has experience to be selectman." Thank you, Ms. Hickey!

May 17, 2014

Falmouth has a fantastic opportunity to elect a selectman who will make Falmouth an outstanding place to live, work and play.

Rebecca Putnam — an eight-year town meeting veteran — is running for selectman. Rebecca is someone who has the requisite experience to be selectman. She has served in leadership roles for local nonprofit organizations, has been involved in town government, and is a successful small-business owner.

We can see her values in her son Andrew, who has served our community on the Affirmative Action Committee and the Cape Cod Commission, and in her two daughters, Kaytlen and Victoria, who have also volunteered their time to our community and schools. Her husband, Brent, is now chairman of the Board of Selectmen. I have had the pleasure to work professionally with Rebecca and see firsthand her mastery of negotiation and conflict resolution.

With Rebecca's election, the selectmen would have someone who can hit the ground running, and the board would have a female majority for the first time.

For the first time in more than 40 years, I have chosen to put a political sign on my lawn to indicate the best candidate for selectman: Rebecca Putnam.
