Another Endorsement

The following letter appeared in the May 17, 2014 Cape Cod Times entitled, "Elect Rebecca Putnam instead of another dud." Thank you, Ms. Finnell!

May 17, 2014

As Falmouth considers its next selectmen, it would be wise to recall some previous disappointments.

We elected someone active in her neighborhood but with zero experience in town government. She lasted one term after controversial speed "bumpuses" mysteriously appeared on her neighborhood roads.

We elected a college professor who refused to let the selectmen recite the pledge of allegiance, making Falmouth a national embarrassment. She lasted one term.

We elected a member of the school committee who recently revealed that she has no knowledge of Falmouth's roads.

Three years ago, we brought back a retired selectman. He sued the town.

We've never been disappointed by a Putnam. Outgoing Chairman Brent Putnam brought dignity to the board and ousted an ineffective town manager. Andrew Putnam has served admirably on our Affirmative Action Committee, and on the Cape Cod Commission.

Now Rebecca Putnam — an eight-year veteran of town meeting — is running for selectman. Like her husband and son, she consistently does her homework and she listens. She is the only candidate who has committed to holding regular, open office hours, as a selectman, to listen to citizens concerns.

Please remember to vote Tuesday. Every vote counts!

Margaret Finnell
